  1. Gene Roddenberry is one of my favorite sci-fi writers of all time. In his earlier years he worked in a police department and worked himself his way to a chief police public writer. If I'm not mistaken he saw much crime and immoralities that propelled him into the world of sci-fi writing. For anyone interested look up his Wikipedia, his is quite a fascinating person. Anyway Star Trek is loaded with philosophical and moral questions whilst playing in sci-fi universe, no wonder the nerdier part of the population started to call them self Trekkies which was a unique social phenomena back then. Putin and Stalin has eliminated the better part of the Russian population, yes the thinkers, the nerds (in a more modern term), the writers and the dreamers. No wonder Russian people are miserable and envious at the freed people from former USSR states, and they fear that Ukraine is going to get welcomed into the warmth of Europe, because then Russians are left even more lonely in there miserable existents. Irony is that they too could be free and living the good life just like anyone else in Europe but they aren't rebelling against a dictator that have no love for them. Putin is nothing but a parasite on the Russian people. Get rid of it I say! Oh.. the worms, the worms.

  2. Bringing light to a dark world is the first step to fight the evil that hides in the shadows. Expose them and they skitters away in terror. Back in the 80s news reporters (and earlier) did uncover the truth about bad things, but this went away when news papers died out. We kind of slowly reinventing this with independent youtubers that delivers news that no one else is covering. So just by talking to people about Ukraine is one way to help out, it might not seem like much, but then again think of the network effect (for instance facebook wouldn't exists without it), and the more people are talking about it the more it generates a grassroot movement in a country.
