  1. Dan Arbess is totally wrong : China is NOT an indepepndent economy and NEVER will be. They have to import a) Food , they can't grow enough to feed themselves b) Energy , they are energy poor c) They need to export , which makes up 40% of GDP By contrast the US is independent. a) energy independent , a net exporter b) food independent , a net exporter c) They are not wholly reliant on exports which make up 23% of GDP

  2.  @s1399518  Trade is the source of wealth. Iran has had sanctions imposed so it can't trade and the economy is dying. Trade is essential. China requires trade to exist : to feed the people and to import fuel. The USA exports food, and exports fuel. That is the difference, The US has just built 19 Virginia class nuclear submarines to blockade China (if necessary). Which would cripple China's economy and bring down the CCP. A blockade would be the end of Communist China.
