Had a further thought on this: The reason the UFO obsessives seem like religious zealots is because they are making the same mistake. There's a shared reality that is inexplicable... If that reality is just accepted, with some theories as to why, then fine. But they just can't leave a hole unfilled... they have to insist that their theory is the 'truth'... and that insistence is exactly why religion evolved in our societies.

[And I also marvel that people still watch the shit shown on TV.] I am very sceptical that the technology exists to travel such distances. That said; I have seen a UFO. I wasn't alone either, there was a few of us sitting on a beach late at night, and we all saw it. [And we weren't stoned either.] Despite that, I still doubt. [Not that there are other lifeforms, that is almost certainly true.]
