  1. Same experience as Blackley [?]. I joined the Greens here in the UK, [more powerful and important in Europe than in the US] and tried to work with them for a few years, but the petty rivalries and nastiness inside the group were just too painful to put up with. The experience helped me define my politics a little more, I'm now utterly opposed to party faction. We don't need them any more. They were useful shorthand for political identity before, but with the internet we can do our own work now.
