It's not about whether someone is intelligent or not... it is about arrogance. I have a uni professor friend, who is indeed really smart, but painfully arrogant as well. Like anyone, there are things he doesn't understand, but if we get into a debate about anything he just instantly dismisses anything I say. I've given up now, I just let him get on with his arrogant ignorance.
