So, ah, what camera is filming the 'hummingbird'?

I know some guys who live in a 'semi-permanent state of flatulence'.

I grew up by this reef...so heartbreaking that we are destroying it.

@wernervoss6357 Not sure, but you smell familiar...
77
Um... so what is the clever design?
32
@j.ericsmith From the depths of hell!
20
Good heavens, cuteness overload...

Liked the Goldilocks ref. Made me wonder if 'flakey' bark [common in a lot of Australian trees] might not be a defence mech.

The PBS animal cameras are all very clever, but every one these clips have been more about the camera than what it is meant to be filming. So if there is a camera filming the camera, seemingly without being a problem for the real animals, then why do you need the fake-animal camera?

Just to add to Marcelle's point, the fires are natural and actually essential. Those short stumpy grass trees they walked past require fire for their seed pods to open, which is common for many plants in Australia, and as a result there are always growth spurts after fires. But because the fires are so intense now and so frequent, because of climate change, the habitat is not getting enough time to recover.

@Caleb M. F Yes you are. Every single one of us is responsible... our lifestyles are directly contributing to the demise of the reefs all around the world. Just because you can't see it doesn't mean it's not happening, it just means you're not paying attention. Out of sight, out of mind. Hence why so few of us are changing our behaviour or voting decisions.

ffs, you're supposed to be a nature program, yet you don't understand even the basic notion of not anthropomorphising other animals. Zero respect.
5
I was like, wait, why am I listening to seagulls? I think we can hear the real sounds just at the end.
4
@remahanrengginang1040 Then we'd have like eight different images.
4
Hey, stop kickin my butt! It's already sore from sitting on coral. [That's how we hatch it]
4
@brigtaylor3446 That's great an all, but we are long long past being 'a part of nature'. We have become a force unto ourselves, and it is a destructive force. If you are unsure what this means, do some reading about the Anthropocene.
4
My fav thing about these is that there is no human commentary...
3
Earth: Your anus.
3
You do realise parasitism is a completely valid animal existence, common in many species. Here you are judging other animals by your own human learned ideologies.
3
Terms like 'super-power' have no business being used in a nature program.
3
@iii___iii 'Regular drones' also don't eat butterflies. And frankly, to randomly accuse someone of being a Trumptard just because you disagreed, is a trumpian level ad hominem.
3
For example, we are the reason bees are dying out... good luck surviving without bees, baby... no matter how fit you are.
3
Yet again PBS making it about the story-tellers instead of the actual story.
3
Jeez, Earth, we did not need to know what you get up to in the bathrooms of country truck-stops...
3
@MimiMadness94 I'm not talking about the elephants emotional capacity [is that really that hard for you to understand?] I'm talking about attributing/assuming the motivators and behaviours of the animals based on human interpretations... you know.... anthropomorphism.
3
@ezduzit09 Thought you mighta set that one up, couldn't resist... Bom Bom!
2
@clarenceboddicker6679 I laughed too much at this dad-joke...
2
@jarleskogly8388 Well, to be fair, it is often hard to tell which is which...
2
@Dmt mind Nope, we're all responsible... The behaoviour of every person and company is at vote, [barring a few determined off-grid folks].
2
Bloody hell, that lil turtle is/was gorgeous!
2
@MimiMadness94 Then you don't even understand what it means.
2
Why?
1
@graphite2786 Said Hanrahan!
1
Didn't take it long before it was just more showing off of their imitation animals with cameras for eyes.
1
For those in the UK, https://www.rspb.org.uk/birds-and-wildlife/wildlife-guides/bird-a-z/ is a great resource. Birding is surely more of a past-time than a 'sport'.
1
They really are some of the filthiest animals... I wonder how they taste...
1
'Rarely' and 'if ever', are two totally different things... so which one is it?
1
@MakoTsunami-Umi Ha!
1
@Paddy O'Yakkin Are they using a flutter camera?
1
Cool. Ricciardo will be pleased to hear this.

Something implied in this segment, (which PBS really should have clarified); is that these are just the ones on the island, there are still many Glossy Blacks on the mainland, they are not only found on Kangaroo Island. This is a subspecies (probably), which has been endangered for some time, it recovered before from low numbers, hopefully they can again.
1
And a super sexy man, to boot.
1
See, you really have no idea.
1
@Dmt mind In other words, you have no understanding of the main cause of the reef's destruction...
1
Nothing better than an Ozzyman review... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQ4OipQP03E
1
@devodavis6747 It's constant with these clips... always more interested in themselves than the subject matter... par of the course these days. And there wasn't only one self reference... but that doesn't suit your tiresome narrative, huh.
1
@InVinoVeratas Not an acceptable excuse. We can still be informed whilst basing on facts. The BBC does it all the time with their nature shows. Nature has enough inherit drama already within it.
1
@MimiMadness94 If you say so... :D

What fresh alien hell was that inside her mouth!
