  1. Just had the thought that this could become something permanent, that humans will have to learn to live with it, something that will take 1% to 2% of the population every year. Scary thought, but then nature is scary. Whenever I hear some futurologist/scientist wax on about humans being able to live forever at some point, I just think, 'You really don't understand how nature works, do you?'
