  4. You're both right, the corporate Dems will fight dirty, as they have, but in the US system, a third party hasn't much chance. There are two possible paths, we keep slugging away like this until things get so bad that we eventually get enough progressives in the party to take control... Or we do form a third party, which is a much harder path, but with a better outcome, and I think possible if we are well-coordinated and focussed on one, ONE, sure-fire issue like healthcare reform, and ignore, yes ignore all else. No talk of Green New deal etc. Yes we want them, but that comes later when we get our foot in the door, we must not muddy the water, [t only opens new battlefronts]. It would require strong agreement and working together because basically, every single institution in the country would be against us, and they have all the power.

  5.  @AldenBunagCDAD  The multiple left parties happens in every country. If you don't laser focus on one issue, the party will never get up and running, simple as that. So I suspect the hijacking of the Dem party is the only real option then.

  6.  @nathandwyer7273  Utterly irrelevant... the US electoral system is completely different... that's why this issue is so problematic. It's pointless talking about other systems when they don't apply to the US, that's kinda the point. The Dems as they exist now will never change that system. Which is why the third party option has no clear path without huge agreement and mobilisation from the real left, which is just not happening. Too few of them fully grasp the size of the task and what would be needed to get that party above the fray.

  7.  @AldenBunagCDAD  On an individual basis whilst going the 'take control of the Dems' route, yes, highlight the connection. But if starting a third party. No, totally different game... and it will only win if you keep it really simple and focused on one thing that everyone wants. You keep on mudding the waters. You might understand the connections, but the majority do not, and our media will never give us the airtime to explain.
