Cars Ruin Cities! I lived in London when CC was introduced, and it was amazing, the inner city became a pleasure to walk around. I have to say, I visited again a few months back, and it felt like it had got a lot worse. I do have one concern with this tho, and that's the issue of 'driver privilege'. Drivers already believe they own the road, which leads them to do things which actively endangers the lives of others. I fear this will only make it worse.

So do they say BCC when referring to the years prior to CarChrist?

@fdagpigj The tricky part is socks and undies.

Does he have a cathedral now?

@ze_genz9139 I considered it a very good look...

Came to say the same...

It makes absolutely zero difference who you vote for in the US, zero. There's is presently no competent person 'in charge' right now, and it doesn't matter in the slightest. So in other words, they don't run the country.

Ethical consumption! woohoo... It makes a change to be mesmerised by a crutch instead of nipples... The Brit Fashion Council discovered that we have already have enough clothes to clothe the next six generations.
2
I really don't think I could be civil to someone who continues to knowingly invest in fossil fuels.
2
Idk, man, it just doesn't feel like a real Climate Town episode without some blue-tape chest hairs and nipples...

@CertifiedGirlThing omg

Ok, so the latest issue that has come up about renewables I am having concerns about is that most of the tech we are using (PV panels and lge HAWTs) is not recylable/renewable it's just gonna get trashed every 20-30 years. In other words, it's just feeding capitalism's endless thirst, it's linear not circular, so not reducing actual energy use.
2
@grischa762 They can be, but they are not as it isn't cost effective. That's part of the ruse, they say they are recyclable, but then they don't do it. Same as is happening with plastics.
2
Even better put the commons back in the hands of the community...

I like big butts, and I just can't lie. This is great content. But yeah, we screwed. So screwed. I never use Amazon.

People over a certain age screaming at the screen about Ma and Pa Kettle... There's also all the wasted single use plastic.

Damn, that hot coal miner!

And yet still US cheese is shit.

@bervestormbottom3357 My country?

Nailed.

But, but, I don't have any money... Any proposal that includes 'economic growth' in the equation is an option that has already failed.
1
@SwiftySanders It was probably just the time of day, maybe lots of delivery vehicles. Def need to go further, so many inner streets could go car free. But that's the same for so many cities.
1
@Luzgar That assumes that only non-recyclable energy capture options are available to us, and aviods the issue that this is just perpetuating the industrial system that has brought us to this point.
1
@grischa762 How are the panels and turbines made? If we are making them everytime from scratch, then that isn't circular. Which is what needs to be addressed. All that's happening now is that our consumption increases everytime we add new supply, so we're not reducing our release of warming gases at all.
1
@grischa762 There is a Chinese company who have just released a design for a genuinely recyclable PV panel. Hope it is viable.
1
@grischa762 Well, my wording often needs work...

The stupidity of this hurts my brain... the endless theft and commodification of the commons - neo-liberalism on steroids. The private sector has run out of other options to fund its endless need for growth, so they bought-up all our politicians to get them to transfer State funds, your money, into feeding their excessive greed.

@HomesteadForALiving All land is the commons.
1
@HomesteadForALiving It's ok if you don't know how Commoning works, it's not well known.
1
Bit of a miss to not talk about reduction of energy use. Renewables are not going to cover present use, we need to reduce demand and this needs to be talked about.

@climatebreak Is that AI generated?
