  1. Let's say an avocado is $1 in the store. Roughly 50% of the price of the avocado is the wholesale price, with the remaining 50% being the retailer's markup. So the WHOLESALE portion of the avocado would be subject to the tariff. That would be 12.5 cents. Let's round it up and say that on paper, the avocado would cost $1.13 with the tariff factored in.
