Its a common tactic to be unprepared, deny knowledge of details or context etc. They know exactly what they are going to be asked, but their only defense is plausible deniability. If they actually gave answers and provided details the truth would be easy to discover. And they certainly don't want that. Their best and only defense is "I'm dumb and have no idea what you are speaking about" Or sometimes "i disagree with the premise of your question" and "that is false" No shame
