I watched something the other day and it was a recording done by a bewildered man who had applied for a role in some production for stage or film. He was told outright that he hadn't got the job because the intention was that the role be offered to a person of colour. And that any work for stand up comedy, advertising or basically any work in FRONT of the camera would be preferably given to black people. Regardless of the actual role. So it wasn't a requirement for that particular character, it was "just the way things are at the moment". I mean that was pretty obvious anyway but to get it on tape....
