Sorry but Obama wasn't a decent person. Instead of heralding his being elected as a signifier of great race relations, and a phenomenal improvement on past sentiments, accomplished in very short years.... he used the opportunity to continue playing victim. He could have made a simple, but direct and honest speech regarding race and racism. A speech that would have been historically significant and brought the country (and by extension the world) together more than the aftermath of 9/11. But instead, he did something unexpected and did the exact opposite. He didn't take the obvious and truthful route we expected, he made as much as he possibly could all about race. A black man being elected to the highest position in America and the leader of the free world, wasn't enough. "There's more work to be done..." the famously vague and empty Democrat mantra! "I might be the first black president, but what about the past? Lets drag that up to remind people what USED to happen. You white people aint off the hook, even though you OBVIOUSLY voted for me as a black man. Even though you had nothing to do with historical injustices. Oh no! voting for me was the LEAST you could do, and it ain't enough" He could have been historic for more than just being black. He could have done such positive things and he blew that opportunity
