I regularly see badgers and deer at night here in west Yorkshire. Granted, im in the countryside, but I have seen it more in the last year or so than at any other time. Not long ago I had an adult deer i startled jump clear over the bonnet of my car as i was driving by. A week later I watched a still bandy legged baby deer (or possibly a freaky faced muntjack deer!) attempting to jump up a 5 to 6 foot wall several times before making it, and about a mile further down that road a fat bottomed badger clambering through some clapped out dry stone walling like little clumsy oaf! Herons are less common than they once were in the woodland out back, bit then again I've seen them perched along the canal bank not too far away. One thing that IS absolutely fekked is the waterways and fish stocks. The river Calder is apparently absolutely disgusting and polluted more now than in history. It has had some difficulties with pollution from the textile industry this area was known for, with dyes and chemicals being dumped. But the fact that raw human sewage is regularly leaking into the river at several points is wrecking the river life. You would think they could track that down and handle it. But other than that, the wildlife is abundant
