If I'm on fire, I really don't care how diverse the person is who comes to help. I want the best person for the job to do it. Who exactly IS it who promotes this guff? Who is behind the stupid idea that diversity is important in such jobs? Whoever wants to apply, can do so. It really isn't any more complicated than that. People have the free will to choose and it doesn't get any better or fairer than that. Why the social experiment? Why MUST the government be involved with manipulating the workforces to present how THEY feel it should, in a country with the freedom to already choose ones own career? Its bizarre. Leave the standards as they are... as they have proven to be effective, and MAYBE make an effort to appeal more to the demographics you are so desperate to recruit. no special arrangements, no unfair advantages or lower standards, and let them choose! An already effective method or effective team structure is all that is important. Its effective! Of what benefit or importance is it to diversify just for the sake of being diverse?? WHO CARES? Emergency services are there to protect and save lives. Not to fill quotas.
