Comments by "firstandforemost87" (@firstandforemost87) on "Canadians pay more in "carbon tax" than they get back in rebates, Conservatives claim" video.
If that were true, they wouldn’t issue rebates. The $ would go towards R&D and infrastructure.

@marcinhibner9507 Please explain to me how the average consumer is in charge of whether or not the gamble on induced innovation pays off here? How in control of my home heating am I in a Canadian winter? How much real control of my gas bill do I have when almost all of my driving is already non elective? How much can the individual consumer be expected to retrofit their home, or upgrade vehicles, when interest rates are high and ppl are already struggling to avoid carrying a credit card balance, let alone put away savings?

@bobwoods1302 Enlighten us, Robert. It was worth responding to for you, so educate us all on how taxing generally non elective consumption constitutes a reasonable incentive to abate. It works for a lot of smokers because they aren’t smoking to heat their homes and get to work.

@zepher664 Depends on the nature if the good being taxed. The vast majority of my energy use isn’t elective. It is to survive (heat my dwelling, earn a living). How much abatement do you expect to achieve when you are taxing something that is mostly consumed out of necessity?

@josephsmith594 It was worth your time to reply, and you sound highly confident, so how about you give us all a rundown? Why not?

@josephsmith594 No no. You’re so sure of your position, so defend it. You’re taking even more tome to bother replying, so stop copping out and make your case.

@josephsmith594 Faster than 30 seconds, hey? You actually believe that?
