@vmwindustries Yea this all started under cons. I’m no lib or NDP fan, but the incentives are clear here, and Canadians need to remove their ideological blinders for once.

I’d rather we put more effort into educating and training Canadians. I went applying to trade school not even a year ago. Most of the programs had waiting lists. You need to be a rocket scientists to get into an RN program right now, and I know some insanely bright and competent ppl who were turned away from medicine programs. Why would we welcome foreign students into our schools for programs for which there already isn’t nearly enough room?

@jasonclark1985 It isn’t tuition that makes it unaffordable. Its 4-8 years of foregone full time income alongside ballooning costs outside of school.

@deadfullyawesome Yea we need more nurses, doctors, and some STEM type stuff. Apart from that, uni is a waste of time for the most part. Imo we should cut subsidies for all of the other programs, and use the $ to expand seats in medicine and nursing, and expand capacity for internships for med grads. You can get a free ride for nursing and med, but you have to remain in Canada. You pay it all back if you leave to work elsewhere. Subsidies should remain for other in demand programs, but the arts and such should be completely defunded. Business school too.
