If only we could rely on our MPs to rep their constituents, but we can only expect them to tow the party line.

Don’t like Trump much, but he won points w me when he kept his eyes on the ball and didn’t let his attention drift too far from China. Wish we could do the same here.

Yes yes. Everybody who disagrees w you is a racist. We’ve heard it all before.

What would you have our government do? What’s the point in extradition treaties if we pick and choose when to honour them? Meng was arrested as per our treaty w the US. The two Mikes were arrested as political hostages for the purpose of obtaining leverage. We aren’t the only country they are doing this to. This is what we get for doing business w China.

William White Yes. Puppets to the sorts of interests that have seen us bending over the barrel to do business with China. Our obsession with nominal growth is a symptom of that corruption, as is our cozying up to an authoritarian regime that neither shares nor respects our (supposed) values. While we erode our competitiveness in the name of decency and environmentalism we fail to curtail our consumption habits, opting instead to simply export our externalities to another country where the powers that be are more than willing to allow us to indirectly exploit their people and their environment just to turn a buck. So progressive.

Quantium There’s truth to it. Billions of dollars being washed in our real estate markets will have some impact on pricing, especially in areas like Vancouver where geography and regs prevent the market from responding to rising prices. I couldn’t say to what extent it’s had an impact though. Rental prices in my hometown skyrocketed when we replaced the domestic workforce with ‘Temp’ (but not so temp) foreign workers (all of them awesome ppl whom I’ve worked with). Growing the labor force without the accompanying demand for said workforce (typically represented by rising wages) has done no favours for working Canadians. You might see nominal growth, but it’s spread over more ppl alongside rising costs of living, so purchasing power falls for many.

William Gates I agree. We do need to focus more of local/regional government. Currently though, we place a lot of power in the fed.

Dapper Canuck More Canadians need to follow your lead (for ALL party stripes).

lostinthefogofwar We aren’t sacrificing anybody. We are honouring our agreements and China is playing terrorist. Why should we give in to terrorists? We rely on the US far more than we do China.
1
lostinthefogofwar We aren’t looking out for our own interests by rewarding and incentivizing terroristic behaviour. We’re just asking to find ourselves here again in the future. Meng knew what would happen when she came here. She/they were banking on our weakness.

Data was a treacherous android Canada isn’t the only country protesting China’s involvement in Hong Kong by shunning existing agreements. It was stated plainly that they wouldn’t be honoured if two countries two systems wasn’t upheld.

Data was a treacherous android That’s what he does best.

William White We found some common ground!

Dan Truong Then why are the Chinese and Iranians meddling in the election on behalf of Biden (supposedly)?

Dan Truong Idk what to believe anymore Dan. Do you?

Sinvx That’s what everybody said 4 years ago, and his chances are better this time around.
