Peter Mackey, however, wasn’t trying to send $900 million to said charity, wasn’t in a position to do so, and thus didn’t get the chance to fail to recuse himself from the decision to do so. You can’t say for certain whether or not he would have made the same conflict of interest blunder, so bringing him up is immaterial.

  4. imran smd Also, $6,000 per event to speak for a bit? That’s “hard worked (earned?) money”? I don’t think most Canadians would equate speaking events with ‘hard’ work, and what leads you to determine that the charity “gained lots of support” as a result of her involvement? Do we know how much she made for the charity by speaking at $6,000 a pop? Did she win the charity support, or did the charity buy access to influence?
