Thing is, if the ‘danger’ were the deterrent you assume it to be then the level of competition to get the job wouldn’t be so intense. I’ve known many who tried and only one who actually made it on w the city force. One of them is an RC now after the city force turned him down multiple times. He was a super athlete deans list uni student. Closest thing to superhuman I’ve personally met, yet he couldn’t make the cut. Fact is ppl want to be cops; danger or no danger, and many of them would do the job for a fraction of what they are paid now. The danger level doesn’t determine your worth, and the thrill is what a lot of them are signing up for. It’s like becoming a teacher and then complaining and demanding more $ cuz you have to deal w kids all day…
