  1. Maria H It’s a problem when we are simultaneously being told that UBI is needed... Automation is either marginalizing labour, or it isn’t. Tired of this dual narrative. Automation is coming. Ppl can’t earn a fair wage. The government needs to step in! Oh, also, employers can’t find workers. So many jobs! We have to fill these positions, and so the government must step in! Which is it?

  2. “Connect with their natures” Really? You mean the nature that most Canadians need a car to access? How are we supposed to connect with nature when our access to it is so highly regulated anyway? No fires here. No camping there. Keep your dog on leash. Don’t go off of the designated trail. I highly doubt that more government will encourage more Canadians to ‘connect’ w nature. I also find it funny that we are supposed to only trust ‘science’ on matters of environment and climate right up until Maine cheap progressive points can be scored by consulting the mysticism of native hunter gatherers...

  4. rain1956 Fair enough, but have fun making theses changes w/o massive social unrest. To me, given the narrative, it seems pretty futile. Nobody is equipped to make these changes and nobody is trusted. There is no consensus about the nature of the crisis. There is no reason to trust other international actors to behave. There is plenty of room for the measures to be used to transfer wealth and assert control. If what climate fear mongers say is true (I have no stance either way) then they have a logistical and technical nightmare on their hands that no existing government or coalition of governments is ready to address. When the hyper wealthy pushing the idea start walking the walk, maybe I’ll listen. In the meantime it remains hard to buy in when the pushers refuse to curb their own consumption and habits despite supposedly believing the world is about to end.
