A leader doesn’t pretend that racism isn’t directed from minorities to the majority, or that being a member of the majority means that the racism you experience is somehow less nefarious and worthy of condemnation. His outlook breeds anti white sentiment. His is not a message of unity. He is not a leader.

  4. walrusArmageddon If you don’t think it exists, then you live in a bubble. White privilege is itself a racist concept, in much the same way the notion of male privilege is inherently sexist. But sure, I’ll give you a couple of personal examples. Not long ago I saw a J walker (who was not white) stop, flip off, and hassle an elderly driver who honked after having slammed on their brakes to stop from running them over. He then turned his attention to me when he noticed I was looking at him judgementally for being such a POS, and between threats of violence he felt the need to keep injecting my whiteness into the picture. F**in white boy, I’ll *** you up white boy, etc. Why was my race relevant? Not long before that encounter, an acquaintance was being picked up by her father after lunch. She had to go across the street with her friend to get their ride so that the dad wouldn’t think she was on a date or hanging out with white guys, god forbid. Then there’s the myriad instances of flagrant racism I encountered working a night club door to make ends meet while in school. An alleged refugee couldn’t get in because he didn’t have the necessary ID, it’s only the law, but somehow that became my fault and my race immediately became the focal point of the conversation. In fact, my(our) race (despite a diverse staff) would frequently become the focal point of the conversation when people weren’t getting their way. Got too drunk in the bar and you’re being asked to leave? Boom accusations of racism followed by racist ranting lol. The hypocrisy surrounding race is off the charts. You can’t even place a sign on a campus that says ‘it’s okay to be white’ without ppl flipping out. I guess, for many, it really isn’t okay, you know, cuz of original sin and all.
