“What does it matter where I do my job as long as the work gets done?” These are fair points, but now you have to convince everybody that the job will get done, and the post covid era has, thus far, not reassured ppl in this regard. That isn’t to say that the tardiness of gov services is a result of remote work. There are prob lots of causes, and maybe remote work isn’t even one of them, but you’re gonna have a hard time convincing me that ppl are more productive alone at home in their slippers w the weed vape pen a few feet away…

@nicholas6950 “Productivity can be tracked” In some roles sure, but in others not so much. Not everybody is performing discrete quantifiable works. As for the managers, I have worked public sector both provincially and federally, East and West, and even in the office the ‘managers’ weren’t under much pressure to get anything done. There was simply little to no regard for productivity or work quality. I’m not gonna be convinced that this will change when they can wear their housecoat and have a movie streaming nearby.

@nicholas6950 As for the vape pen remark, it was a reference to a friend who worked remote, and always had that vape pen. Your taking issue with this tells me you are pretty naive about ppl, and you should reflect on the nature of those around you more. And before you make some remark about it being the ppl I surround myself with or something, the pattern persists regardless of where I am or the demographics, from childhood to adulthood. If given the opportunity to slack and cut corners, many will slack and cut corners.
