If you’re for or against unions, then you don’t understand what they are. They can be good. They can be bad. They represent their members, and those members are self interested.

@TwistyMcFisty Massive conflict of interest present when gov negotiates w public sector unions. You could lose a lot of votes by doing your job right, and pub sector union memberships are significant. If you walk around asking ppl what they do it seems every second person belongs to either a healthcare related union or an education related union.

@LucVNO I don’t blame ppl for liking their unions, but so many ppl are downright religious about it, as if their having received better pay and conditions is a boon for all humanity. It isn’t a boon for all of the ppl who can’t get their foot in the door because it’ll cost the company too much to bring on another apprentice. I know a couple guys in the elevator tech union. To get in they simply had to know the right ppl. If you can get in, you’re set. Good luck having the right daddy or the right best friend tho.
