Russia would never be able to hold the line, especially when the enemy has air superiority. The US doctrine is just "You see those enemies there? Vaporize them". Russians would die by the hundreds of thousands. It would be genocide.

Most of the shelling killing civilians was not on purpose on both sides. You are aware Russia started and funded the war in Ukraine for the past 9 years right? Russian regulars were captured in the Donbass during the fighting over that time.
