@SilencedButNotForgotten - He also probably doesn’t know cops aren’t doctors and aren’t qualified to determine if somebody is dead.

Everybody here is talking about how the cops should have known he was dead and treated him as such. Police Officers are legally not allowed to make that call. Lifeguards are the same way. They are unqualified to make the call to determine if somebody is dead or alive and therefore they must keep administering aid. Also the story is completely mis leading here. The bodycam literally shows him intentionally pointing something at the officers. It was dark and they weren’t willing to make the guess that he wasn’t holding a gun. This is possibly life or death. No chances can be taken. And they aren’t going to stop and think about all your feelings.

They aren’t doctors. They can’t make that call.

@nexal8109 - They’re cops not doctors. They cannot decide if somebody is dead or not.

@jackherer519 - And some people also dont realize cops aren’t qualified to determine if somebody is dead. Wether it’s obvious or not.

@martyrobbinsfan7930 - That’s not true at all. Im a certified Lifeguard and im not even allowed to declare somebody dead. Of they have no pulse or aren’t breathing that doesn’t mean they’re dead. You do CPR until actual medical professionals arrive to take him away and later declare him dead or not. Its hard to give aid to a person who is suspected of having a weapon. Also since they cannot approach the suspect because of the current threat, they can’t check a pulse. Legally they cannot declare that man dead.
