Theologically it means the act of submitting in peace to the will of Allah as the Creator. This submission entails bearing witness that THERE IS NO GOD BUT ALLAH. Submission requires that a person submitting to Allah should entrust his command to the care of Allah. Obedience to Allah is the main feature of submission. A Muslim is such a person who submits to Allah and obeys him in all that He commands, and refrains from that which Allah forbids. - Truly, the religion according to Allah is Islam. Those who were given the Scripture did not differ except, out of mutual jealousy, after knowledge had come to them. And whoever disbelieves in the verses of Allah, then surely, Allah is Swift in calling to account. - And whoever seeks a religion other than Islam, it will never be accepted of him, and in the Hereafter he will be one of the losers. - ... This day, I (Allah) have perfected your religion (Islam) for you, completed My Favor upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion. - And who does more wrong than the one who invents a lie against Allah, while he is being invited to Islam? And Allah guides not the people who are disbelieving folk.

They have hearts wherewith they understand not, and they have eyes wherewith they see not, and they have ears wherewith they hear not. THEY ARE LIKE CATTLE, NAY EVEN MORE ASTRAY. Those are the heedless ones. Verily, Allah will admit those who believe and do righteous deeds to Gardens beneath which rivers flow; while those who reject Allah will enjoy (this world) and eat as cattle eat; but the Fire will be their abode. And (all) the Most Beautiful Names belong to Allah, so call on Him by them (such names), and leave the company of those who BELIE or DENY (or utter impious speech against) His Names. They will be requited for what they used to do.

Allah warned you of disbelief: Those who disbelieve and belie Our (Allah's) verses, such are the dwellers of the Fire. They shall abide therein forever. Those who disbelieve Our verses, We (Allah) shall burn them in the Fire. As often as their skins are roasted through, We shall substitute their skins that they may taste the torment. Truly, Allah is Ever Most Powerful, All-Wise. Those who disbelieve and deny our verses are those who will be the dwellers of the Hell-fire. Those who reject Our verses, the torment will touch them for their disbelief.

They (disbelievers) made not a just estimate of Allah such as is due to Him. And on the Day of Resurrection the whole of the earth will be grasped by His Hand and the heavens will be rolled up in His Right Hand. Glorified be He, and High be He above all that they associate as partners with Him!
