  1. {4} وَقَضَيْنَا إِلَى بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ فِي الْكِتَابِ لَتُفْسِدُنَّ فِي الْأَرْضِ مَرَّتَيْنِ وَلَتَعْلُنَّ عُلُوًّا كَبِيرًا And We (Allah) decreed to the Children of Israel in the Book, that twice would they do mischief on the earth and be elated with mighty arrogance! {5} فَإِذَا جَاءَ وَعْدُ أُولَاهُمَا بَعَثْنَا عَلَيْكُمْ عِبَادًا لَنَا أُولِي بَأْسٍ شَدِيدٍ فَجَاسُوا خِلَالَ الدِّيَارِ وَكَانَ وَعْدًا مَفْعُولًا When the first of the warnings came to pass, We (Allah) sent against you (Children of Israel) Our servants given to terrible warfare. They entered the very inmost parts of your homes; and it was a warning (completely) fulfilled. {6} ثُمَّ رَدَدْنَا لَكُمُ الْكَرَّةَ عَلَيْهِمْ وَأَمْدَدْنَاكُمْ بِأَمْوَالٍ وَبَنِينَ وَجَعَلْنَاكُمْ أَكْثَرَ نَفِيرًا Then did We (Allah) grant you (Children of Israel) the Return as against them (our slaves): We gave you increase in resources and sons, and made you the more numerous in man-power. {7} إِنْ أَحْسَنْتُمْ أَحْسَنْتُمْ لِأَنْفُسِكُمْ وَإِنْ أَسَأْتُمْ فَلَهَا فَإِذَا جَاءَ وَعْدُ الْآخِرَةِ لِيَسُوءُوا وُجُوهَكُمْ وَلِيَدْخُلُوا الْمَسْجِدَ كَمَا دَخَلُوهُ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ وَلِيُتَبِّرُوا مَا عَلَوْا تَتْبِيرًا If ye (Children of Israel) did well, ye did well for yourselves; if ye did evil, (ye did it) against yourselves. So when the second promise will come to pass, (We/Allah shall permit our slaves/your enemies) to disfigure your faces, and to enter the Masjed as they had entered it before, and to subdue your arrogance. {8} عَسَى رَبُّكُمْ أَنْ يَرْحَمَكُمْ وَإِنْ عُدْتُمْ عُدْنَا وَجَعَلْنَا جَهَنَّمَ لِلْكَافِرِينَ حَصِيرًا It may be that your (Children of Israel's) Lord (Allah) may (yet) show Mercy unto you; but if ye revert (to your sins) We (Allah) shall revert (to Our punishments): and We have made Hell a prison for the disbelievers.

  2. The call to prayers is Allah's invitation to worshipers to come to the peace, tranquility and spirituality in his house. The enemies of Allah do not want to hear anything that comes from him. The horrible noise is the one you will hear on the Day of Judgment; that is the noise of Jahannam which you will hear when you are cast on your face in it: إِذَا رَأَتْهُمْ مِنْ مَكَانٍ بَعِيدٍ سَمِعُوا لَهَا تَغَيُّظًا وَزَفِيرًا 12. When it (Jahannam) sees them from a far place, they will hear its raging and its roaring. إِذَا أُلْقُوا فِيهَا سَمِعُوا لَهَا شَهِيقًا وَهِيَ تَفُورُ 7. When they are cast therein, they will hear the (terrible) drawing in of its breath as it blazes forth.
