Georgia tried to mess with Ossetia which was another independent ethnic Russian region. Georgian president Sakhashvilli ordered to have city of Tshanvilly in Ossetia bombed on the first day of Olympics in 2008. Russia responded very swiftly and Sakhashvilli was crapping his pants - he was eating his own tie on live Georgian TV.

Obama administration dumped shady documents like NDAA that abolished habeas corpus right before Christmas in 2018 as far as I remember. DNC that shilled for Hillary Clinton picked the debate dates for Democratic Primary between Sanders and Hillary either on days before Christmas or on days during the Superbowl games. The Deep State/corporate state had a lot of example of using sporting events and holidays to distract the public from paying attention or to highlight supposed corruption in the countries they are not friendly to and to their own public. The US wants to boycott Beijing Olympics which is super stupid because they allow the athletes to complete. Funny part that the US didn't boycott the Olympics in Germany when Nazis were in power in 1930s.
