  1. You are getting the "blowback", from the dodgy workmen the customer has used previously. There were NO new components on, or anywhere near, those brake assemblies - but somebody has told him that work has been done. And he probably paid, well over the odds? He was a fool to reject new studs- safety is clearly not an issue, with him. You STILL can be proud of the fact that YOU do a good job and give customers an honest appraisal, of what needs doing.

  3. MANY years ago, I put new brake pads on a girlfriend's Triumph Spitfire. When the engine started misfiring and cutting out, a week or so later "It must have been something, that you did!". I could never convince her about the "disconnection of her analysis".

  4. Clearly that was not necessary - the guy didn't want to spend money. Whatever the measurements - he would have said "they have just been done". He wanted a free expert diagnosis. There was a very good indication - visibly - rust and the obvious wear on the disc itself. The owner was just fishing for ideas. It's like people going into a store and comparing TV sets, then going home and buying online. He wanted a diagnosis, so he could get parts from salvage.
