  2.  @jocularranime6807  You can easily compare the two. Christians believe Christ is a figure to emulate. You could easily make a religion based around Superman and wanting to be more like him. You don't have to believe Superman is actually real, but can recognize he has positive attributes you want to emulate. Satanists don't believe in a literal Satan, but the figure still plays a part in the religion And no, there is not a lot of proof for the existence of a deity

  17.  @amogussus4397  Ok, so God knows everything. He knows every choice I will make. So if I have two choices "A" and "B" and God knows I will choose "A", how can you argue I have free will to choose "B"? If I choose "B" then God has just made a mistake, I have proven him wrong.

But if by nature he is omniscient and infallible, then I as a limited fallible being am powerless to choose anything other than what he knew I would, for to do so would weaken God. His very nature limits our choice and therefore free will is impossible if such a God exists

Unless you can demonstrate some flaw in my reasoning or provide an alternative explanation, you must understand that I cannot accept your mere assertion that both an all knowing infallible God and free will are compatible

So are you suggesting that after all my time looking into the matter, I simply rejected God's existence because it would be inconvenient for me if he was real? That's a very patronizing claim to make

I have not read the book but I am very familiar with Frank's arguments .They are full of problems and have been refuted many times. The title of the book alone is nonsensical

  52.  @tmac7011  I don't know any atheists who use evidence to refute God. In fact there is no burden of proof on atheist to show a God does not exist. By definition most of atheists reject the claim a God exists because the evidence on the part of theists is insufficient. The vast majority of them. Frank is prone to committing logical fallacies within his arguments and showing a lack of understanding of the science he tries to speak about.

I am saying I have found that the arguments and evidence of theists claiming as truth that a God exists, are insufficient to make such a claim. There are plenty of videos on this very platform of people debunking Frank's arguments

  54.  @tmac7011  No it doesn't and it its odd that you would use a courtroom analogy when it is a courtroom that be best used as an example to show why atheists do not have a burden of proof. If I accuse you of murder are you under any obligation to prove conclusively that you did not commit murder? No. Do you have to show who did in fact commit the murder instead of you? No. Do you even have to speak up in your defence? No (though it obviously helps). If I am accusing you of murder the only thing that is required is that I prove my claim beyond a reasonable doubt. Same with theists, if they claim a God exists, atheists do not have to offer up an alternative. The theist has to prove the truth of their claim

  55.  @tmac7011  An alternative is not required at all to reject a claim. There is another analogy that may work here. You and I are sitting in a room and are presented with a giant glass jar of jelly beans. We are asked to say how many jelly beans are inside. I look at you and say "Well obviously there is an even number inside". The man holding the jar looks at you and asks if you agree with me that there must be an even number inside. If you say no, you do not agree, it does not mean you are asserting there is an odd number inside, it does not mean that you are claiming there is NOT an even number. It simply means that you are rejecting my truth claim based on their being insufficient evidence to arrive at such a claim. You presenting an alternative theory as to the number of jelly beans is not required. It does not make me seem any more reasonable or unreasonable, the weakness of my claim has already been demonstrated

  56.  @tmac7011  Exactly. Every atheist I personally know has the same stance. I think the view that some have of atheists as being people who angrily declare with certainty that there is NO God is somewhat outdated. Rather I don't think there is enough reason or evidence to arrive at the conclusion that many claim. And I agree. I wish that people would evaluate their own beliefs more often.
