I had a 1981 model, and lived that car. Bought it used with 125k miles on it, which was a lot for a car made in 1981; I bought it in 1992. The previous owner had taken great care of it, and had most of the maintenance records in a thick pile of papers. That ar was so solid, and so reliable that I have been sold on Japanese cars since then. Oh, and I drove the piss out of it. Did my own oil changes, and belt replacements, plugs, etc. The engine was packed in under the hood, but everything was still easily accessible. The plugs were right on top of the block on the in line 6. I ended up getting sideswiped by an 18 wheeler as he made a late lane change, and didn't see me in the turn lane next to him. The door, driver side quarter panel, and a tire and wheel were damaged, but it still drive as if nothing had happened. Truckers insurance company screwed me around, offered 1500 for a total loss,or 750,and I get to keep the car. Well, I needed a car to get to work, and couldn't afford a lawyer so I took the $750. Life is especially hard on a young man of little means, living on his own. If only my dad could have given me a "small" 20million dollar loan like Donald Trump. Anyway, life goes on.
