You need to deliver all the energy to earth if your civilization is not interplanetary. All those energy after being use becomes waste heat that are now trap on earth. No matter what mirror combination the end result is the same you need the energy on earth it will become waste heat on earth. Unless you live outside earth to prevent cooking earth.

That is actually his conclusion to be type 1 you must be interplanetary otherwise you cook earth.

That is what the logistic function described. Energy consumption tapers off before reaching type 1. Base on historical data energy consumption can be either exponential or S curve. If it is S curve then that would mean other civilization is undetectable which makes classification pointless. So if you want to classify other civilization the first requirement is that they are detectable. If you can't detect them you can't classify them. But to be detectable their energy consumption growth must be exponential making the kardeshev classification applicable. If the civilization is detectable then kardeshev classification apply and they can be classified. If they are not detectable then there is nothing to classify because you don't know they exist.

If they are undetectable then they are uninteresting. Just like the intricate grazing habbit of unicorns. No one talks about the grazing habbit of unicorns.
