  1. ​ @EebstertheGreat Diamond also breaks. Hardness measure is not about toughness but scratch resistance. There is a different measure for toughness which is the amount of energy needed for permanent deformation.

  2. ​ @lord_woodhaven6426 The hardness level of glass is between 6 and 7. And yes even Gorilaa glass is between 6 and 7. But Hardness is a measure of scratch resistance not toughness. Gorilla Glass is a lot tougher and slightly harder than regular glass

  5.  @EebstertheGreat  An opaque carbon base amorphous material is also not glass. Otherwise Acrylic should be called glass at least acrylics are transparent.
