Hypersonic anything glows like a meteor so it is very easy to detect with infrared sensor.
3
They glow like a meteor. Any satellites equip with infrared sensor can easily detect them.

Any rockets that get to Low Earth Orbit needs to be at least Mach 25 that is the speed needed to reach that orbit. So it is not on "decent" you need to be at least Mach 25 to be on low earth orbit. Higher orbits like the orbits of gps satellites needs faster speeds more than Mach 25 to reach their orbit.

@danepher Speed is speed. A falcon 9 can still deliver a rod of god at hypersonic speed and strike anywhere on earth.
1
@danepher Falcon 9 do not have ballistic path. They can maneuver and return to launch site to land. The second stage have been doing various dog leg maneuvers to precisely deliver satellites at very specific destinations. Also realistically it takes 10 minutes for falcon 9 to reach orbital speed. If it launches from Florida there is no interceptor that can respond to kill it before reaching orbit unless Russian submarine is loitering in US waters without detection. Once it is in orbit then no missile system could block a tungsten pole from hitting their target.

Modern military doctrine requires tanks to be with infantry support. Just train the infantry to do tank maintenance. Tank gun jamming is just poor engineering. You design it out of the system by field testing and design iteration. If the tank gun is jamming then the design is not yet good enough and requires more testing and redesign cycle.

@OscarSchneegans Humans are not indestructible. A properly design machines can have parts last long enough to not fail until scheduled replacement. Loving care does not make a tank stronger. Train the infantry to a standard then have the crew inspect their work. IFV carry 8 soldiers have 4 of them maintain the vehicle and the other 4 maintain the tank. Your objections are full of emotional fluff without critical thinking and sound logic.
1
@OscarSchneegans Humans will eventually die. This is your argument only replacing humans with machine. Your 30 years of experience did not involve infantry repairing tanks. How arrogant of you to think that infantry soldiers are not smart enough to learn how to fix tanks. Do you think you are a genetically special person who are the only one gifted to read and understand repair manuals.

Missiles don't have enough energy to reach GPS orbits. Solid are less efficient than liquid propelled rockets and you need Falcon 9 size rockets to reach this orbits. You need missiles the size of a building and not the size of a truck to target GPS satellites.
1
@benudharmadhi4154 There is a big difference between LEO satellites and GEO satellites. LEO is 1 000km away while GEO is 36 000km. Showing that your vehicle has enough fuel to reach your neighbor does not mean your vehicle has enough fuel to go cross country.

Bullets are faster than missiles. Tracking system would need to work harder but they just need to put enough bullets toward the missiles general direction.
1
@burningsinner1132 Most bullets are not use to intercept missiles. I am specifically talking about CIWS projectiles.
1
@burningsinner1132 CIWS will still work against hypersonic missiles. Hypersonic does not mean the missile becomes intangible. Due to geometry CIWS projectile can always intercept the missiles path no matter how it dodges a.k.a. bullets are faster.
1
@burningsinner1132 Computers are very fast. Hypersonic missiles glow in infrared so it is very visible from very far away. It is a lot harder to track compared to conventional missiles but not impossible
1
Post numbers instead of words. For example how much is the reduction of the side range of a patriot missile system against a mach 10 hypersonic missile?
1
Elon Musk's Falcon 9 is 5 times faster. It is not impressive.
1
@nomayor1 This is not impossible to intercept. Yes interception is harder but you just need early detection so that you have enough time to put enough rounds in the missiles general direction.
1
Yes. Artillery is far cheaper far faster and do far more damage.
1
No military power have defense system that can intercept artillery shell. So it is nothing new.
1
Cameras are cheap just add a dozens of them. Also active protection system should have sensors that can provide visualization with proper software.
