@renezirkel current Dojo chip is at 7N process in 2 years time TSMC will be at 18A that is 4 full node jump if they double the area of the chiplets and increase the clock by 10% that's more than 40X improvement already. Completely inline with Moore's Law.

@renezirkel It takes 5 years to develop a chip. On their first try it makes sense to use a mature node. When Tesla was developing the D1 chip that node was 7N now in their second try it is reasonable for them to go full out and develop for the upcoming process node 18A. Tesla doesn't have multiple teams leapfrogging between process nodes and developing multiple product generations at the same time. Tesla has one chip development team and they can only develop chips one generation at a time. Also this is TSMC marketing their advance nodes so complain to them for being misleading.

@renezirkel Moore's Law is not broken. From 7N to 18A that is 16X improvement. Let me list it for you 7N to 5N 2X improvement then 5N to 3N another 2X improvement. 3N to 2N(20A) another 2X and finally 2N(20A) to 18A 2X improvement. 2×2×2×2=16. They can then double the area of the chiplets. That gives them 32X improvement. On top of all that increase the clock from 2Ghz into 2.5Ghz. A 25% increase in performance altogether reaching 40X improvement while still within Moore's Law.

@renezirkel Yes TSMC is the king unless Intel can take the throne with their advanced process node technology. Everyone else are just serfs using TSMC's technology.

@renezirkel Tesla did not say anything this was TSMC hyping up their advance nodes to counter Intel hyping up their new High NA EUV lithography machine. TSMC needed something to counter Intel's giant machine that got delivered so they go yeah but we can 40X your improvements.

@renezirkel I am no comparing anything. TSMC is responsible for this leak. I am just commenting on technology. Also Playstation and Xbox are both N7 process. It is not legacy technology.

@renezirkel I don't care about Nvidia. All their GPU''s are made by TSMC. Without TSMC's leading fabrication and packaging technology. Nvidia won't have advance microchips.

Dojo is for training. Currently they are using Nvidia GPU's to train. Dojo will just make training cheaper because the prices of Nvidia GPU's are monstrously expensive.
