They must have been using their fleet as collateral. The bankruptcy probably allowed them to unload their debt by giving up their fleet. Now they have no debt but also no fleet that is why they have the opportunity to rebuild their fleet from scratch by buying Model 3. Model 3 are very good in depreciation so creditors will have confidence to let Hertz borrow money again.
