cmilkau You are just saying technology will solve all their problem. We have abandon nuclearthermal because chemical rockets are much easier tech to solve. They have a much more difficult problem and what ever tech they needed to solve it will be much more difficult to develop. If they need nuclearthermal rockets to deliver GEO sats then they already are on a much more difficult tech path compared to us.

William Mitchem hydrogen is the best propellant because it has the atomic mass of 1. There is nothing better. For electric propulsion it migth be possible to use something better than xenon but that is only useful when you are already in orbit.

Why don't we have those advance techs. Galactic survey says we are one of the early civilization in the galaxy. We are the advance civilization rigth now.

von nobody no the problem is velocity you need twice the velocity to reach orbit which means you need four times the energy. What ever tricks you use will not get you out of needing that much energy. The best way is to get out of the atmosphere as fast as possible and then start accelerating immediately. Lingering in the atmosphere will just waste energy from drag and gravity loss that you should be using to increase velocity. Now if the atmosphere is 90% oxygen then there migth be a point in staying longer in the atmosphere to extract oxygen. But using it purely for lift is just wasting energy.

Mountains does not help you get to orbital velocity. What actually helps is use the planets rotation to add more velocity to your rockets that is why luanching near the equator is preferred.

William Mitchem Any unkown compound will have molecular mass >1 which means it is automatically worst than hydrogen. Rockets effeciency ISP is affected by the propellants molecular mass. Earth is lucky we can use propellant other than hydrogen. Superearth will have more limited choice of propellant.
