Yeah your military service oath doesn’t give you any authority to define people you don’t like is domestic enemies and use violence against them. It doesn’t make you into some sort of permanent self appointed constitutional enforcer. It simply says that you have sworn to defend the country by following the orders of those appointed above you including civilian leadership while you were in service, so long as they be lawful orders.

@rayisawesoem Well common sense and even a cursory review of Hitler’s actions reveal quite a few parallels. Both Hitler and Trump operated as demagogues who made appeals to the people in order to sweep away the legal framework of a republic. Both condoned and used violence in the streets to increase their power. Both acquired a cult like following. Both manufactured enemies and demanded personal loyalty rather than loyalty to the country. Both demonized particular ethnic and racial groups as enemies of the people. Both promoted conspiracy theories in order to justify their actions. Both wielded the authoritarian machinery of the state in arbitrary fashion to deny individual rights. Both fostered corruption and operated outside the law whenever it suited them.

There’s no evidence from the writing of any of the framers of the constitution that they intended for the second amendment to be used to help people overthrow their own government. None of them ever talked about the Militia overthrowing the government of the United States or that of any of the states.
