It’s hard to see the west providing large quantities of heavy equipment to Ukraine. But it’s hard to see this war ending in a way that’s satisfactory either for the west or Russia otherwise. If Mr. Biden and the Europeans want to solve this problem and stop Russia from continuing to pose a threat to world stability they have to do whatever it takes to force Russia out of all Ukrainian territory.

@starchild692 I don’t think the west is willing to compromise on an unprovoked war of conquest. That can only mean that Russia gets to keep some territory that it stole rewarding Russian aggression. And I think that western leaders know why that can’t be tolerated. It would be appeasing Hitler again. And I think they know that that’s why the only way this gets resolved is by completely reversing Russian actions: all of them. Vladimir Putin has been foolish but he’s not crazy. He won’t use nuclear weapons so long as legitimately Russian territory is left untouched.

@AW-zk5qb Until very recently I would’ve agreed with you.

@starchild692 Meeting halfway still means giving Russia some territory that it took through naked, unprovoked aggression. That’s morally wrong no matter how you try to rationalize it. And it also rewards aggression ensuring more aggression. Your confidence that Russia wouldn’t threaten other European countries is already belied by the fact that they’re threatening nuclear attack if Finland or Sweden joins NATO. No country can be allowed to deny the sovereign rights of another to join whatever alliance it likes. It’s not acceptable to say that I feel threatened by somebody’s alliance when they haven’t actually made any aggressive move towards me and if that somehow gives me a ride to attack them with force. This cannot be allowed to stand or only more trouble will follow.

@starchild692 No you’re just rationalizing evil, false equivalency, and the kind of moral hazard that only leads to more and bloodier war through appeasement. Your prescription makes no sense on either moral logical or practical grounds. It result of nothing but evil consequences for everyone. You’re trying to normalize Putin’s uniquely appalling behavior and pull a Naville Chamberlain impression at the same time which is quite a feat
