Lacks character says it all. And that applies to all Audi cars (except R8). With the engine in front of the front axle it needs 4wheel drive, torque vectoring and a lot of other efforts to manage the huge natural understeer that is build in the faulty design (like a reverse 911). And it's not just the lack of steering feel that give a numb driving experience. When the thing is designed wrong from the start you have to tamper with so many things to make it right that somewhere there the feeling disappears. Audi cars are more like people carriers, just very fast straight forward. Nothing you use for the joy of driving. Nobody turns of traction on a car with 500+ hp. That drifting is for journalists. But this BMW as all of them are rewarding even on a short drive. That is the difference between them.

***** I said all that from my own personal experience. I just wanted to mention this guy says the same thing I feel, lacks character. All Audis I have driven lack feeling in the wheel when you turn. The whole car feels numb. I never felt what was happening as I do in BMW cars where I feel what the car is doing and what is happening. Audi makes great cars with fantastic quality but you feel disconnected with them, at least in comparison with BMW that feels more agile. And having the entire engine in front of the front axle is never good. It's like a revers Porsche. They have tried for over 40 years to fix that problem and we all know how much Audi cars have understeer. If anything KILLS the sporty feeling in a car it's understeer. Audi cars don't understeer much now but that is thanks to a lot of different fixes. But then you know it's there, BUILT IN THE CHASSIS FROM START and it needs all the fixes to go away. It's all those fixes that makes Audi cars numb.

Alexandre Fernandes If you live in areas with a lot of snow buy the Audi or even better a BMW 4wheel drive. That way you both have a better drivers car and 4wheel drive. If your area is more summer like buy the M6 because you then have both a great car, a drivers car and you also look cool.

Alexandre Fernandes The cars you mentioned are excellent. Often I don't push very hard (it happens occasionally) but I enjoy driving even in normal speeds in a rear wheel drive car. When the front wheels do only one job, steering, and not both steering and drive it feels very different. I'm a fan of real wheel drive and not specifically BMW. In snow 4wheel drive is much safer and I have nothing against that. If I could afford it I would have one of each for winter and summer. As it is now I have to slow down in snow conditions.

Alexandre Fernandes LOL, I'm not confused by anything. How often do you see people drifting? Specially when you consider most cars until not long ago were RWD. The only times I have drifted have been in snow condition and that was before the era of cars having traction control. It's the uncorrupted steering feel of a RWD car that is the fun part. When you know it's not traction control or torque vectoring that makes the car turn sharply and freely but a good chassis and good balance, and it does not always mean 50/50, hence the 620hp RWD Porsche GT2. And for that reason almost all race cars are RWD, except in rally. I do understand the practicality and safety of AWD and as I said I would prefer it in snow conditions but I can't afford 2 cars so drive a bit slower in snow.

Amidat It might be a better car but not a better drivers car. And I guess I'm wasting as much time as you and all others on YT. I simply enjoy enlightening others in matters I know about. On the other hand the fact of an Audi understeering or lacking feel is so common knowledge it borders to cliche.

Alexandre Fernandes First of all, this guy turns off traction in the cars for the drag race, hence the spinning tires. Second RWD cars are not for spinning, it's only in these videos they do that. RWD is a whole different experience compared to a 50/50 AWD, it feels more nimble compared to specially Audi AWD that feels disconnected and neutered. Unfortunately as a driver in the Audi you don't feel any connection with the steering wheel or the car it self. I live in Sweden with a lot of snow and have a RWD BMW. Never any problem if you have the traction on. Yes AWD is better in snow but not that much that I would sacrifice the whole driving feel by driving an Audi. If I really need AWD I just buy a AWD BMW with is more bias to the rear wheels so it still gives that RWD feeling. Audi is transportation, BMW is transportation and the feel of driving and connection with the car.

The Stulla King GTR is RWD until they start to slip or spin, then some of the power goes to the front wheels. It's not constant AWD as in Audi. Porsche needs AWD in the more powerful models because of the engine placement which makes it safer to drive for the average driver. Their most powerful model GT2 with some 620 hp is RWD but it's more of a racer. Mercedes offers the new E63 AMG in both AWD and RWD. Depends on which you prefer. Also in Lamborghini's AWD most of the power goes to the rear wheels, just like BMW's system and just like Audi started to make their cars recently. Audi used to have 50/50 until they realized it makes their cars masters of understeer. Again, drifting is for journalists with access to free tires.

Amidat Yes, I know it was banned from rally cause most rallying is on gravel or snow and having quattro is a big advantage on those surfaces. Touring cars are changed so much that there is almost nothing left from the original cars. But on dry track an M3 will always beat a RS4 and M5 will beat RS5. They simply have too much understeer. Been tested many times by different car magazines and car TV channels with the same result.

roozbehbey What, so reality has become pathetic now?
1
roozbehbey Let's see. Every single reporter that have tested Audi cars have always complained about understeer, which Audi has tried to fix the last 2-3 years. Seems to be your mind that is deluded. You now also realize it was your statement that was pathetic, not mine.

ellasOLE22 lol, calling a failed statement brilliant says all about the state of your mind :)

ellasOLE22 I get it, tough to change that state of your mind :(

roozbehbey LOL, every time people on YT realize they have a shortage of logic in a discussion on they start to call others for kid, without fail. Name calling is cheap. I expressed an opinion based on my over 40 years of experience as a kid :) You can always check and find information before you reply. There is a wealth of free information on internet. There is no excuse to stay ignorant these days, not that you are, but the free information is real.
1
roozbehbey Single minded to the bitter end :) I don't hate Audi, all I ever said was it lacks feeling in driving it, it's not a drivers car. And your educated answer has been "deluded and grow a pair". As I said the free info on internet cost nothing, so is being polite in a discussion. I guess it's easier for some not to make an effort.

Jay Man But this guy did drive both and said there is little feel in the Audi. Do you believe him? Or is he also wrong? I driven amny Audi and BMW. Audi cars have great build but lacks feeling when you drive them.
