"If we calculate..." He said it about a lot of things in universe. Charge, energy and a few others. What exactly does science know about universe? When standard model did not work and the stars were going to fly out of the galaxies and black holes did not make sense or big bang itself sounded crazy: Enter Dark matter and Dark energy.
And the standard model wasn't off by a few % but by a staggering 96%. In which universe do you say: If our standard model does not work then there must be 96% of something that no one can see or prof the existence of. If we add 96% of that stuff, then our model works.
If we don't know anything about the dark energy, how can you say the existing energies cancel each other out and add up to zero? The same for gravity since 23% of the mass is so utterly unknown to you. Since science got stuck with their standard model, were the whole universe and everything in it, is explained by gravity, which is by far the weakest force in universe (1/ 1 million million, million compared to electricity and magnetism) they have to come up with ever stranger explanations. Every other day Nasa or other science institutes have to admit that things they thought they knew, are wrong. How Pulsars come to be and their existence, how planets are formed, solar systems, and so on.
