  2. @1:07 According to Canadian political philosopher George Grant's Lament for a Nation, those two political ideologies you described are what he calls in the book, "two species of liberalism" who are in support of capitalism somewhat differently. On one hand, you have the regulated-market capitalist liberals, who in the USA would be Democrats, and on the other hand there are the free-market capitalist liberals, who in the USA would be the Republicans. This is much like how you have the Labor party and the Conservative party in the UK or the Liberal party and Progressive Conservative party in Canada respectively.

Okay, socialism isn't really about progressive taxation, equal accumulation of wealth and giving everyone basic income; it's about overcoming those things by getting rid of money altogether by replacing money with automation, giving everyone access to schooling, housing and resources, and essentially building a knowledge economy.
