It’s impractical, not to mention that it wouldn’t have worked with the plane spinning like that or in most frequent crash conditions such as takeoff and landing, controlled flight into the terrain, or any kind of problems at high speed. It would also add thousands of pounds of extra weight, increase aerodynamic drag and fuel consumption, and result in increased maintenance costs.
