family legend tells the story of one of the death of one of my cousins in the 1800s . Since it was a small town, a funeral was a major social event. Her family was well to do so was able to afford a coffin with a little window . As the mourners filed past for a final look, one of my Uncles noticed mist on the inside of the glass over her face! Yep. She was still alive. They opened the box and got her out but for the rest of her life she was regarded as the person who spoiled the funeral by not having the decency to stay dead!

@Mr110074 yup in fact people were often buried with a string tied to their wrist that lead to a bell above ground. If they woke up the bell would ring and the guy guarding the grave Would dig them up lol
