  1. My Grandfather served in WW2 (Canadian)and was given the knickname Jam Charlie because he would steal the officers little pots of jam and give them to the injured men. After a while, he noticed the jam pots were deliberately being left out where he could easily take them . The officers, having realized what Grandad was doing, willingly played along with his pilferage lol.

  3.  @bm337  i dont remember him mentioing specific towns he passed through but he spoke with great fondness of the Dutch people and how he and his comrades gave out chhocolate and how joyful and welcoming everyone was.
