Last spring, I was diagnosed with Arterial Flutter and severe tachycardia. Medication did little to slow progression and i quickly got to the point my heart was - in the words of my dr- getting tired from being overworked. In July I was hospitalized and received a Cardioversion - a process where your heart is shocked to the point it stops for about 15 seconds then (ideally) starts again in a normal rhythm. My heart surgeon had to shock me 4 times. (apparently this is rare and was a first for her lol)

@einwolfsrudel I'm so sorry about your foot! 100 years ago , it would have sucked much. We had a history fair here about 10 years ago with play actors ..pirates.. villagers..constable etc. One area had a historian dressed as a ship's surgeon from 1750. He had some truly horrifying ...equipment! A bone saw. A drill. A mallette. Even scarier was a 2ft long pointed chunk of wood. He told me it was a splinter. A SPLINTER! Said back then a log like that would fly through the air of your ship,was hit with a cannon ball and impale itself in your body. He said..if it was your belly,or torso you were doomed but if it was your arm or leg you would meet his trusty friends...and picked up a bottle,of rum (for anesthesia and disinfectant) and the bone saw! If you survived and didn't get gangerine, you were rewarded with your very own peg leg as a prize!

@jackm3720 hahahahahha I've had it done twice so far. The second time was on Valentines day. (The irony of my heart trying to kill me on Valentines is not lost to me). Usually the good team will knock you out first but that time, the juice didnt work so I felt all 240 jolts . I joked now I know what it feels like to be stuck by lightning!
