British enterprises were dominant in Hong Kong in the beginning, but more and more Chinese became rich via hardworking and business minds later, finally Hong Kong Chinese own business and British own business are half and half in Hong Kong now. Have you ever heard the term " tax haven" ? why such countries become rich because of low tax? Low tax may attract more foreign investments and wealthy people to move here, low benefits can force more people to work. This is the success of Hong Kong

Lots of funds inflow during colonial period, everyone is hardworking because we can't rely on social welfare too much. The British colonial officers developed Hong Kong to the 2nd richest and prosperous city in Asia during colonial period. Singapore follows the same policy until now
