The British colonial officers ruled Hong Kong with capitalism, low tax and limited benefits in 156 years of British rule, it was very successful and developed Hong Kong to the 2nd richest and prosperous city in Asia during the colonial period, low tax may attract more foreign investments and limited benefits can force more people to work.

It was ceded to Russia under unequal treaty in Qing dynasty, but never returned Chinese Communist party claims that they don't recognize all the unequal treaties in Qing dynasty, why China doesn't ask Russia to return Vladivostok? Why did Rishi Sunak leave the D-day ceremony early? Because he didn't care about the British culture, heritage and history. Why did Rishi Sunak celebrate the Indian Diwali in the 10 Downing Street with his Indian fellows? Because he cared about the Indian culture and heritage. @henryburton6529 Macau was also a European colony, but she was poor during colonial period, why? Why did Singapore, China and many other countries try to learn from Hong Kong ' successful story later? Singapore learned a lot from Hong Kong in the beginning, she also has a very low tax rate and is developed to a rich and prosperous city later. China has made some special economic zones with very low tax to attract foreign investments in 1980s, then the economy of China is booming

@maneshipocrates2264I am a Hong Konger, majority of Hongkong people are Tory supporters. Conservative party cares about Hong Kong much more than Labour party during the colonial period and after the handover. Conservative party had big fights with China over Hong Kong issues for many times, but Labour never cared about Hong Kong because we didn't contribute any votes to them, Labour has obviously betrayed Hong Kong for interest from China now, most Hong Kong people hate Labour very much now, Conservative party never betrayed Hong Kong for interest
