@PibrochPonder Being a British colony, protected us from the persecution of Chinese Communist party, we enjoyed much higher degree of freedom during British rule. British Colonial officers developed Hongkong from a fishing village to a very prosperous international city

Both her parents are Nigerian, her mother travelled to UK to gave birth to her, then returned to Nigeria immediately after she got the British citizenship. She spent her childhood in Nigeria and returned to UK at 16 only, she doesn't have any British heritage, do you think that she will be loyal to UK wholeheartedly?

@jumblestiltskin1365 Hong Kong was the last major colony of UK in the last few decades of British rule, they didn't want to lose the last major colony, so they treated us very well, the elderly people with colonial memory before 1970 can tell us that the British rule was not that good but still better than Chinese Communist government. Most of us don't have the colonial momery before 1970, so our colonial experience is good.

@fortpark-wd9sx During colonial period, millions of refugees from Mainland China fled to HK to escape the Chinese Communist government , 80%of Hong Kong people are refugees or descendants of refugees from Mainland China. Since Hong Kong was the last colony of UK in the last few decades, British colonial officers treated us very well and Hong Kong was very prosperous, so we enjoyed the British rule and only minority of people has asked for democracy during Colonial period, but the CCP treated us much worse than British rule, so we want to have self governance and democracy now

UK has financially supported Hong Kong several times when Hong Kong was in serious financial crisis or big natural disasters during colonial period. But when Hongkong was prosperous, the colonial officers would take money from our treasury to support their own countries, UK's economy became much worse after the handover of Hongkong in 1997 is a proof.

@fortpark-wd9sx Chinese government didn't allow Hong Kong people to have a referendum, they signed a contract with UK and promised to give Hongkong one country two systems, Hong Kong people might enjoy high degree of freedom and self governance, but these promises are never fulfilled

@fortpark-wd9sx no, not only Economic freedom, Chinese government promised to give Hongkong high degree of self governance, but it is never fulfilled. in 1946, UK attempted to give HK higher degree of democracy and introduced "Young Plan" , but Chinese Communist government didn't allow and threat UK that they would invade HK if any constitutional reform was introduced

@fortpark-wd9sx 1947-1957 Hongkong governer Sir Alexander Grantham had published a book "via ports from Hongkong to hong", in 1965, he said the constitutional reform "Yong Plan" was approved by London in around 1950, but he asked London to revoke it. UK has released the internal confidential documents in 1958 & 1962, Chinese Communist government had threat them that they would invade Hong Kong if any constitutional reform was introduced

@robertjones3613 the crime rate amongst the refugees from South Asia is always much higher than the local people, but Hong Kong receives refugees still much less than UK, over 90 % of them are economic refugees, our government allow them to stay in Hong Kong, but rarely give them the residentship, their benefits in Hong Kong are very little, we want to deport them all. Hong Kong has to receive refugees because the colonial officers signed some international agreements during colonial period. Your country becomes unsafe because you have received too many refugees from the 3rd world, they make UK unsafe and poor

@pal-a your country should be ruled by the government of the same race as per bible, because only the British origin will care the benefits of UK full heartedly , people from other race may put the benefits of their original country in the first priority over UK

The British colonial officals ruled Hong Kong with capitalism and small government in 156 years of British rule, all the policys were right wing, I discovered that Hong Kong was developed better than UK in almost every aspects. We are still running most laws made by the colonial officials

Yes, this is true, I am a Hong Konger live in Hongkong, the Chinese communist government hate UK very much and wanted Labour party win before the General election, Labour party told the Hong Kong people in UK that Conservative party wasn't tough enough with China, they would be evan tougher if they won the General election, but they announced that UK needed to improve the relationship with China just next day after they won the General election

Why does Sadiq Khan ban British and English flag in London but allow Palestine everywhere in London? Why did First Minister of Scotland Humza Yousaf steal the money from Scotland and donate to the muslims in Gaza secretly? Many migrants from different race still loyal to their original country even few generations born in UK, they will put the interest of their own tribe and original country over the indigenous British in UK
